Survey feedback

  • Tech talk is a most informative part of the magazine. Good info and advice. – Wayne
  • I would like to see more Tech Torq and the new Tech Torq handbook. – Robert
  • I enjoy reading the magazine, I would love to see more older bikes, original or modified as I find that most interesting. Also the barn yard finds of the rarer motorcycles is interesting. Include the restoration or the preparation to start them. – Brett
  • When doing stories on clothing etc, can you target some for the “larger, more cuddlier” man in the market? – Dan
  • I really like the overall quality of HEAVY DUTY magazine eg good writing and photos, quality paper, a balanced mixture of local content (Australia and NZ) and international content. Well done everyone! – David
  • I ride a 2001 Dyna Wideglide which I purchased off the original owner in 2010 with a tad under 10,000km. I ride the bike as often as I can and have recently clocked 107,000km, still on stock pistons, with the Screamin Eagle camplate upgrade and SE 203 cams added at around 65,000km. I plan to keep the bike so I will go ahead with a 95 cube upgrade as soon as I have some cash. Looking forward to some warmer weather in Tassie. Mmm must get some of them heated grips one day. Enjoy the mag a lot. Keep up the great work lads. – Gazz
  • Cannot get enough Boris. Wouldn’t mind some pretty girls on bikes. – Mike
  • I would like to own a 1965 Pan, if you could assist me in achieving this bike I would be forever grateful. – Bobby
  • As I like to work on my bike, I find tricks and tips on servicing, installing upgrade items etc interesting. I’ve only been riding a Harley for just over three years (road bikes previously). Love the magazine almost as much as my bike. – Dave
  • I think the money spent on having the double page posters is a waste. The money should be used instead to reduce the cost of the magazine or on other things. And produce the magazine monthly. Happy to sacrifice some “gloss”. Have more articles on custom bikes, particularly Bobber type bikes like the Harley 48. Have historic articles including past racers, tracks, identities, characters, anything, etc. Include articles on new, classic, historic, vintage and custom Indian Motorcycles. – Ken
  • Keep the mag neutral and don’t include 1 per cent clubs. More adverts and specials from suppliers. – Mark
  • I have every copy of Heavy Duty. Love your magazine. I used to enjoy reading Freck’s rides years ago. I enjoy reading about Doc’s rides and enjoyed reading Boris’ coverage of the Black Dog ride. The HOG magazine nearly always cover rides in each issue I do enjoy those, it would be good to see more readers rides in HEAVY DUTY. Keep up the good work many thanks. – Rob
  • Enjoy your Magazine. Love the Tech stuff. I do all my own maintenance on both my bikes. I have ridden 38 US States (most several times) about 60,000 miles. Was in the 100th and 105th Parades in Milwaukee with the 2003 Road King – what a blast! – Bob
  • Like to see more top fuel Harleys like the mag was in the beginning. – Red
  • I really look forward to receiving the mag in the mail. I find most of the content interesting and just like to pick out articles or sections at will at night in bed mostly. Reading the mag gets me excited thinking about getting out and taking ride on my 2014 CVO Breakout. It’s also nice when people approach me to admire my bike and are curious about it. I enjoy the conversations. So keep up the good work at HD mag. – Steve
  • Had a great time in 2012 on the Sturgis ride! – Peter
  • I don’t buy any other Harley mags at all anymore, there’s too much crap in them and everything I need is in HEAVY DUTY – it’s informative, uncluttered and always worth a laugh. It’s a shame it’s only bi-monthly. Not everything in it interests me but it’s gotta cover a wide community of riders. I was a HOG member for 10 years but prefer to ride with mates, or the missus or by myself. Keep up the good work I say, I’ll be buying it for a few years more too I reckon. – Marty
  • Riding gear reviews, wet weather gear, hot weather boots, goggles, helmets, cameras etc. How to buy parts for your bike cheaper. Getting the best insurance for your bike. More t-shirt give-aways and other prizes. – Peter
  • It’s great to see Neale and Viv put out a great magazine in such a tough marketplace. Your support for the local industry and motorcycle scene is second to none. – David
  • I own a 2007 MY08 Night Train and has been my dream bike and even more since they stopped production. As always there is a million things I would like to do to her but time and money are always a factor and since I ride her daily it can’t be off the road for more than a weekend. It already has a 103 stage 4 kit and lights the rear up nicely, but as always you can never have too much power and is always a thrill to twist the wick and hang on. Stay upright and keep punching out a great mag. – Scott
  •  As an avid reader I enjoy your mag but would like to see more Victory and Indian customs. – Douglas
  •  Just keep up the good work on the magazine cause there’s nothing else out there that even comes close to what you do, so if you don’t keep publishing we don’t read. – Peter
  • Organise a rally around Australia. – Noel
  • More mods and accessory details for smaller Harleys like Sportsters. – Michael
  • Love Tech Torq and Doc and Boris’ columns. Mike Hess has some good stuff. Love the classics and new releases, and Doc’s build job and rides. Tests of new models are good too. Would love to go on a USA tour but can’t afford it, so that’s just a dream. –Marty
  • Love the mag. Viv’s great! – Derek
  • I like the Win a Bike comps, that’s why I subscribed to the mag instead of buying at the newsagents. – Alex
  • Maybe if you had a small and selective for sale section. This might be hard for you to filter and make a lot of work for someone though. I’ve have a kit chopper that I built in 2011 that’s been for sale for nearly 2 years and I might not be getting exposure to the right people. – Bruce
  • Like to see Doc and Boris do more bike tests and stories. Do more prize give-aways for us poor folk give Doc a pay rise. – Kevin
  • Please get rid of the posters. Take up too much room and who honestly takes them out and sticks them up? Maybe a 15 year old. – Nathan
  • Custom bikes are okay but are beyond my reach financially and are often impractical but people like them I suppose and they are an important feature in your magazine – but not for me. – Craig
  • You need to be monthly. Every two months is not enough. – Mark
  • Really enjoy the mag, I guess having to wait two months for it is the only dislike. That said I wouldn’t get to read it cover to cover if it came out monthly. – Craig
  • All good! Having a Boris column was a great idea. – Ron
  • I would like to see more articles on classic Harleys ’30s, ’40s ’50s and ’60s models. – Ken
  • Keep up the good work. Magazine is awesome. Ride on. – Rom
  • Went to the 75th Anniversary at Sturgis, rode everyday for two weeks, Awesome ... – Trevor
  • I like all bikes and my first road bike was a water bucket when I was 16. Don’t like these mid life crisis HOG members with their Harleys are best bullshit. Harley has lost the plot and should remember if it wasn’t for the outlaws they would’ve went belly up years ago. – Barney
  • Always liked the mag but I would prefer more on independents and less on clubs, HOG and the so called biker lifestyle that so many today are touting. Personally I would like more on US rides because I live there and am always looking for places to ride but don’t feel it necessary to be in a club or dress up like a pirate to do so. That said I have nothing against clubs, HOG or pirates. – Major Tom
  • HD is the only printed media I subscribe to and enjoy. Our son has all the bike posters on his roof so he can look at them every night. – Simon
  • I found HEAVY DUTY to be the best all rounded bike mag. It covers a whole range of topics tech talk, amazing bikes and personalities. I look forward to reading it every second month. – Jayson
  • HD is a great Aussie mag. More custom bike reviews would be excellent, custom bike painters, custom seat makers in Australia. Harleys are like people, completely individual. Keep up great work – Stu
  • I love reading HD. It is the only mag I buy every time it comes out. The quality is outstanding, I did not think I would like the swap from Jesse James column to Boris, but Boris has won me over. I find both totally relatable (is that a word?). Anyhoo, don’t change the mag too much. – Barry
  • I’m thinking about upgrading. Really enjoyed the M&W article on the Low Rider 117 turn key project. – Darren
  • You have the only bike magazine worth buying – good value for money and the only one I read cover to cover. – Tom
  • I have daughters. At least I can leave HD magazine lying around and not be worried about them seeing naked women in it. I would love to see a comparison of after market performance parts eg exhausts. – Matt
  • Great Mag. Time to renew my subscription. – Mal
  • I love the magazine and look forward to each issue. A huge thumbs up to Brum for making the decision to continue to get the magazine printed in Australia! Top job! – Matthew
  • I am a keen Harley rider and am always looking in the magazine for ideas and info. – Bruce
  • HEAVY DUTY in my mail box is what I look forward to. The best motorcycle magazine. – Jeffrey
  • Really like the quality of articles and technical parts of the magazine. Shows you can produce a great magazine without the need for boobs and attitude. I had four Harleys before I was cleaned up by a tool in a 4WD which left me in a wheelchair. RIP to my 1957 Panhead. Sold my 110th Anniversary CVO Road Glide to fund a trike conversion on my 100th Anniversary Ultra. Currently working on modifying my 1946 UL for a side-car. Not smart enough to know when to lie down but too stubborn to give up. Have always loved HEAVY DUTY. – Noel
  • I’m forever indebted to HEAVY DUTY for featuring my custom project “Firestarter” all the way from Saudi Arabia in it’s August 2012 edition. Thank you infinitely! – Youssef
  • I thoroughly enjoy the magazine and would recommend to anyone to join a HEAVY DUTY USA tour. – Chris
  • Would like to see more readers rides featured, doesn’t have to be high dollar builds. More shots of old motorcycling days. – Brett
  • I mostly enjoy the longer road trips with my wife –as an over nighter or up to a month on the road. So affordable accommodation is a must. Pubs are a favourite for us, so maybe have articles on pubs or B&B that look after motorcyclists. – Darren
  • Great mag, always look forward to the new mag coming out. Pretty happy with it in general and don’t think it needs major changes. Some articles from more guest writers would be good. More articles on rides and good roads to go on in each state would help those planning trips interstate. Perhaps a few more competitions other than just for new subscriptions? – John
  • Been riding for 40 years now – still only a young buck compared to some of my mates! Enjoy reading all HD mags. Awesome stuff guys! – Matiu
  • We want Boris! We want Boris! We want Boris! – Justin
  • Keep up the good work. I ride a 2009 Fat Bob which is my first Harley. It has suspension mods and is a little under 100hp. Great bike to ride. Looks great to with the chrome engine kit. – John
  • More photos of feature bikes. – Guy
  • I love reading your magazine. You do a great job. I have every copy. I also read the HOG magazine. They put in ride stories. I would love to see some more ride stories in HD. I used to love reading about Freck’s rides, your Sturgis rides and Doc’s rides. – Rob
  • I bought my first Harley (a1945 WLA) in 1995 when I was 19 and followed shortly afterwards with by a 1974 kick-start Sportster. I had a 1974 Shovel-head in the late ’80s, but in early 1996 I sold it and after that didn’t ride for 16 years. I bought a new Dyna Super-glide Custom in 2012 and started buying HEAVY DUTY Magazine which was invaluable with articles on tuning, fuel-air ratios, handling issues etc. More reliable and informative than my local Harley Dealer’s workshop. The mag saved me a lot of drama and money. There’s been a few bikes I would have liked more info on. The National Rally in Cairns was the first rally I attended and I ended up with a two page article in the winter issue of HOG Magazine. I met Viv at the Cairns HOG rally. I thought she was just a friendly sales lady working a casual weekend job. I took up a subscription and received a cap. The next afternoon when she recognised me (probably because I was wearing the cap she gave me) I learnt she was Viv the publisher and we both laughed at my previous assessment. Viv is an extremely nice person, she’s got it all – intelligent, delightful to talk with and very attractive. Lucky Neale. Viv has no airs or snobbery, just a really nice person and she introduced me to Neale. I like the magazine a lot. I rode to Tamworth with 15 other Hoggies for the National Rally in 2015 where I met Doc. He’s another down to earth guy. I like the way he finds answers for readers questions. I can’t work out when he sleeps, he’s always on the move. I haven’t met any others from the mag but Boris’ articles are just hilarious. I’m the Editor of the local Cape York HOG group. I just got voted back in so I guess I’m a sucker for punishment. I feel empathy with Larry Flint running Hustler magazine without being able to participate. There you go, you asked for “Likes, dislikes, something about yourself, something about your bike, life in general ... we’ll listen to anything! – Kevin
  • More Borrie please! – Malcolm
  • More advice for readers on either individuals or companies that do a little more practical training to top up riding skills especially when upgrading to larger/bigger bikes. It’s easy to find how to ride courses for beginners and how to ride on a track for racers but difficult to find someone to take it to the next level for tourers. – John
  • Both the wife and I ride, not as often as I’d like given I spend more time in a truck. Love the magazine, thanks guys for giving it to us! – Cory
  • Docs Tech Torq is the best. I’m pretty useless as a mechanic. Also Boris’ page is absolutely a blast! Love the mag. Would like it to be monthly. – Mark
  • There are some good budget build bikes out there that aren’t represented very often, big dollar stuff is interesting but sometimes hard to relate to as a rider. – Mick
  • I have been to Sturgis three times. 2006, 2007, 2015. Love Heavy Duty Mag! – Dennis
  • It would be great if you guys did an organised trip to New Zealand. – Steve
  • I recently bought a Classic Springer and love it! So now we have the Road King for touring/longer rides and the Springer for shorter rides. Marc & I ride together. Am hoping to do the USA 2018 Heavy Duty tour. Going to Harley Days Wollongong rally – Edi
  • Love the mag. I’d like to see more everyday bike builds. I don’t know anyone one with a chopper or show only bike. Me and all the blokes I know have practical bikes with a performance bias rather than all show no go. I can appreciate the engineering and art in some of them but not many fellas can have a bike just for looking at. I’m an average bloke who started on dirt bikes and got a Dyna as soon as I could afford one. On my second one now and wouldn’t have anything else. – Aaron
  • You guys are the best Harley mag on the market, bar none. Keep up the good work. – Richard
  • Keep up the great work. Congratulations on 25 Years. – Colin
  • More stories about local builders and local customs parts. Expand tech talk. – Peter
  • I like that you keep the topless shots out of your magazine, happy wife happy life! I can leave it laying around without worrying about the kids flipping through. – Danny
  • If you can bring summer on a bit quicker that would be great. – Wayne
  • A new rider section to help by giving them tips and tricks of safe riding. – Jean
  • News on laws affecting all bike riders that have come into law and any future laws that are in the pipe line. – Tom
  • Keep the HD magazine coming. I loved the Tech Torq Issue that HD did a while ago. – Michael
  • Would like to spend more time riding with my mates, but am limited by work and family. The survey has made me “think” about HEAVY DUTY – it’s a great mag. I can’t think of anything I’d change. – Geoff
  • I have been on the Heavy Duty wagon since its conception. It was and still is the most appropriate biker related magazine that is okay to leave lying around the house, workshop, garage or office. My kids enjoy flicking through the pages and checking out other bikes and riders, and I don’t have to worry about any images or language that might get me in some hot water! They also look forward to maybe one day seeing dad and bike, ’93 FLSTN (mooglide) purchased from Dave Readie at Harley City back in ’97. She’s as sweet as the day I rode it out of the shop. All three kids love nothing more than the chance to jump on the back and go for a ride. It’s a great magazine and a credit to all those involved in putting it together, keep up the great work and let’s hope it – and we – are still around to see another 25 years. – Toddy
  • I really enjoy the format of the magazine and the layout. I don’t think that I would subscribe to the digital service unless there was no other option. I also really enjoy the mature approach to all of the articles. (Please don’t ever turn into a “Live to Ride” style magazine.) – Jamie
  • I’ve just brought a 2016 CVO Ultra and had a 117 engine kit fitted. Best thing ever! – Bernard
  • I won a 12 month subscription , so thank you very much. Will most defiantly keep purchasing HD when it ends . Funny, I spent $$$ to make my Fatboy Lo all blacked out and Harley bring out the Lo “S” model with the 110. I’m sure the spies saw my bike! Oh well! Great mag. Keep up the top work. – Matt
  • The thing that strikes a cord with me is the way you incorporate your family and close friends into the pages by way of the “motorcycle lifestyle” – Doc with his wife Jane and his son’s charity run, Brum with his Viv getting back on a bike, and son Aiden riding the Forty Eight too. The article with Billy Lane was a nice touch too. In the early days I could only afford to ride and fix Jap bikes but always wanted a Harley. I always got snubbed because I rode Jap bikes by Harley riders and now that I’m 52 and onto my second Harley (2009 CVO Springer), I get snubbed because I ride a Harley. One day people will get that two wheels is the way not so much the marque (though a bit of rivalry is always good for the soul). – Velko
  • Heavy Duty has got to be my all time favourite magazine, I only found it in September 2012 and have got every issue since. I don’t know how I had never come across it before. The magazine is very well balanced with its content, I would hate for anything to be cut out. I am a 65 year old Harley owner, and have had my 2007 Street Bob since new. It lives a sheltered life and has never been intentionally ridden in the rain. I don’t ride as often as I would like due to my work shifts which eat up all but one weekend a month. My days free are mostly week days where I try to catch a ride whenever I can, generally by myself. I spend my saved up leftover lunch money on bling for Bob. I am not interested in making Bob go faster, it’s all cosmetic. Bob needs to look good all the time – he’s a Harley. – Chris
  • Best V-Twin magazine out there. Appreciate all the hard work that goes into the content. Look forward to every issue and will continue to buy. Keep up the good work! – Morgan
  • Fantastic magazine, I really like the reviews about new products, maybe add a review on LED lighting upgrades from US. The flashing brake lights etc are interesting. Also seats, and maybe something about local seat mods to improve comfort. – Russ
  • More of the wizard and the caption comp
  • More content i.e. pages. Finish it too quick. Happy to pay. May be extend to working on or maintenance of shovels/evo’s twin cams e.g. clutch adjustment/problems etc.
  • I actually look for this mag every two months and sometimes when it is a day late I think gee I must be due for a heavy duty Mag so keep up the good work thank you. Chris. Mildura
  • I love the mag. I was a subscriber, but the last couple that arrived when it was raining, were soaked through, so I now but it from the newsagents. I would love to see more readers writing in with problems or just plain old queries.
  • Been riding for years round NZ and OZ would love to ride in US and Europe. – Ricky
  • I would like to see more tech talk on pre twin cam engines. ie evolution motors. It seams that these reliable engine’s have been forgotten. I have kept my 20 year old bike and still ride it hard and it keeps up with the bikes of today for reliability and engine strength it did lack a bit on ponies but with just a few modifications it can keep up with the latest off the showroom floor no problem. They got it right with this engine back then and have improved on it to what we get today from the Company. But it should not be forgotten there are still a lot of them getting around and with no one calling its praises or passing on information on how to improve this old but great ride to get the best from it.
  • As a relatively new H-D owner (four years), I have enjoyed your magazine immensely. I enjoy the articles on product reviews for the Rushmore models. – Chris
  • The magazine is on the right track. Every issue has new and interesting content. Some of the other mags repeat articles or follow a narrow path. You guys have variety. Stick to what you know best, there’s nothing wrong with it. – Steve
  • Six issues a year is not enough lol Would love to see the mag go monthly but remain the same high quality . The difference between Heavy Duty and the other Harley/ bike magazines is chalk and cheese ! Keep up the good work !
  • Need more on Harley tooling for old and new bikes, and where to get from them from. And more trips up to north QLD. Plus some more reviews on tyres . – Peter
  • Love the mag and look forward to getting it in the mail.
  • Would like more stories from readers about their own tours, adventures and experiences. Plus some Heavy Duty tour ideas within our own country to some sort of biker related event. Start building something here that might one day be the annual go to event for people on bikes whether you’re in some sort of club, organisation or just love the lifestyle. – Rob
  • I own a 2012 Victory Hammer LTD with minor tweeks including a Cobra 2 into 1, Ness Y bars, wraparound LED indicators, PM Dagger mirrors, along with a set of ISO grips. Future mods will be an Isopovick muffler, Ness chip and intake system and an upgrade to LED globes for the headlight. After owning a number of Harleys before the switch, I am more than happy with the Victory. I purchase and read your mag every month and find it not only informative but an enjoyable way to pass a few hours! Keep up the good work and ride ’em like you nicked ’em. – Douglas
  • I reckon the magazine layout has a good balance of articles in it. – Shayne
  • Nothing to add, just keep up the good work. I read all your mags cover to back several times before the next edition gets to the mailbox. Love it. – John
  • Love the mag. Could have more articles about women riders, like where do all the single riders hang out. Articles on biker friendly bars, pubs, cafés, accommodation etc.
  • Wished I had more time to ride. Really would like to go on a HEAVY DUTY USA tour. Keep up the good work, great mag.
  • Love the magazine. It is straight to the point with no rubbish.
  • I’m a Springer nut. I think I was put on the planet to keep Springers on the road. I love introducing people to the pure pleasure of riding a motorcycle. I like to put something back into the motorcycle fraternity when I can. I have been a motorcycle instructor in a few states (SA, NT and WA) and really enjoy seeing the faces of learners when it all comes together on a bike. Love the mag, it is always a welcome surprise when it gets delivered. Thanks a million.
  • I love cruisers – Harleys especially, and love riding my bike a switchback. I enjoy your magazine. To get to 25 years you are doing something right congratulations. – Cheryl
  • There are an ever increasing number of women riders and some more coverage would be good. – Linda
  • I love the magazine. I believe it to be the best magazine of any kind currently being published. I was recently in hospital and I showed a couple of editions to another patient, a car enthusiast, who loved it. Keep up the fabulous work. – Wayne
  •  I use to cringe when I saw stories or features on Victory Bikes, because its a Harley mag. Now that I have a Indian, I look forward to stories and accessories about none Harleys.
  • As one of the USA top builders I would like to commend Heavy Duty on the quality of your magazine. It is absolutely the finest quality in the world today. With a lot of quality to read also. Very well organized. You have great staff. Keep up the great work! – Robert (PIPES) Gilliland
  • HEAVY DUTY is a classy publication from the paper stock it is printed on to the content printed on it. Keep the magazine that way and it will continue for many years to come. It would be cool to find a quality motorcycle artist (like David Mann) and feature the occasional piece of artwork too – just for something different from time to time. Keep supporting Black Dog Ride too. Perhaps a column by Steve Andrews? Have you thought about a 25 year pin, sticker (helmet, window or toolbox size?), stubby holder, key ring or t-shirt? Perhaps as a reader gift? (Of course you have thought about it). – Grigor
  • Love reading your magazine. Should be out every month
  • Great magazine. Already has a good mix of articles and interests.
  •  I think the quality of the magazine is second to none when compared with those expensive pamphlets from the USA that cost a fortune. I have asked for advice several times over the years and have always got an immediate response. Definitely keep up the cross section of bikes from old to new mild to wild. I got nothing negative at all. – Nick
  • Would like to see riding tips for the learner/novice riders if possible or something down this line.
  • I’ll like to see more coverage of local custom bike shows just to expose our custom culture, our local builders and our local vendors to the rest of the world.
  • Keep it real, some of the custom bikes in the mag are too extreme and are just show pieces, for those of us that ride we like to see real bikes that can be ridden and not just show toys! It’s also good when you also cover other brands than just H-D, there are some really cool (non H-D) bikes out there, which we can all appreciate as lovers of motorbikes. Not a criticism, just an observation!
  • I would like to see a “rider profile” on one of my bikes: 2012 Fat Boy Lo – “The Mile Runner” with a built 120 cube motor, upgraded ProCharger (with custom pulley system and custom built inter-cooler, etc.), and a 20 shot (nitrous) for the last quarter-mile.
  • Keep up the good work. This is the only print magazine I buy now. All of the rest are crap!
  • Really love the magazine guys. Maybe place some video footage of the tours, etc on your website? Assume you may be attending the Moto Expo in Melbourne?
  • I am 58 , been riding bikes since I was 12 . Been riding Harley’s since I was 23 , love them nothing else even comes close. Ridden them all over Australia , ridden them through America they are my only addiction.
  • Love my 2004 FXSTS Springer Softail.
  • Really like your magazine and look forward to when it comes out. I usually try to get the missus get me an annual subscription for Christmas. It usually works but she forgot last year. This might be an angle for your marketing department prior to Christmas.
  • I enjoy HD magazine as it is – been buying magazines since mid 70s and still buy Ozbike and LTR however only to maintain the integrity of the collection. HD is a far superior magazine in quality and content. Keep it up.
  • Have had to sell my bike because of health reasons, but still love to read Heavy Duty every issue.
  • Would like to see more general everyday bike builds from guys on a budget building in their own sheds. There is a lot of very talented guys in OZ that aren’t high profile doing some wicked things and building some very nice rides on a strict budget. It would be nice to have something that the everyday working man can aim towards instead of so many big $$$$$ builds. Any way that’s my bitch, Sorry.
  • Some more Evo bikes would suit me, but maybe they don’t have a lot of appeal anymore? I enjoy work shop and shed stories about the bikes and owners. Along with pictures of current rides, projects, sheds they reside in, biker memorabilia and the bikes they miss the most. Performance garage magazine (car magazine) features some stories like these. Thanks.
  • Love the magazine, very classy looking, great content. I don’t think I’ve read a bad edition to date, been getting them since late 2009. Keep up the great work team. One suggestion don’t change.
  • Not all readers are interested in pics of hot women on bikes, I chose to subscribe because it was the only motorbike mag that was about bikes not the pictures but didn’t renew when less tasteful pictures started to appear ruining my reading choice.
  • Howdy, the mag is good or I wouldn’t buy it. I like it when you put a good photo on one page rather than spread it across two and have a bloody seam through the shot. I know bigger is supposed to be better but it peas me off and destroys a photographers quality work. A spell and grammar check wouldn’t hurt – sorry but I used to be a proof reader so I see stuff! At the end of the day it is a quality magazine that has no rival in Australia – especially if you are into Harleys and similar. I’ve owned about 18 bikes from Jap to Pommy to bazaar Euro’s, but I have a passion for the 3 HD’s I have owned, ridden and worked on. Really happy to have an opportunity to have a “quick” word, cheers.
  • Overall it’s a great mag as is but as with my Softail there’s always a want for improvements hahaha.
  • When photographing bikes on Vic club plates I believe you should remove the plates from those bikes that clearly don’t qualify for club rego. They abuse of the system by a few will lead to the loss of the system for all.
  • Love the mag. I subscribed for two years but financial constraints only allow me to grab the odd mag theses days. One day hope to buy a Harley, once the old equity builds up I the old house :)
  • On occasion I find the writing on the photo back grounds is very difficult to read.
  • Would honestly not change a thing as I love reading it from front to back . I have only been a Harley rider for just over 3 years and a heavy duty reader for the same time. I finally became a 2 year subscription buyer only a week or so ago after getting off my arse and get on to the computer and purchase heavy duty. Lol. I have kept every issue and will keep every issue from now on so when I get dementia I can read again and it will be like reading a new magazine all over again .
  • Fantastic magazine which is a credit to the writers, editors and other staff. The most high quality bike magazine in the world as far as I’m concerned.
  • Love to see more older bike builds, I own a WLA as well as a late model.
  • I’m currently working on a project and am going from a bare Kraftech frame and rebuilding a 1340 Evo to go in it and will be doing a paint job that makes the frame look like rebar from concrete and the tins like scraps of various pieces of metal that are in various states of rust, new, checker plate and joined in different ways like welded, riveted (hot old school and pop rivets) with rusty runs at the joins to make it look like its been cobbled together from scrapyard parts.
  •  Interested in Knuckleheads and related topics
  • I love your magazine and would love to see more about female riders. Got my licence at 50 and rode a Sporty for a few years and this year upgraded to a Dyna Switchback – love, love, love it.
  • I really enjoy Tech talk. As there is so much misinformation around
  • My wife and I (she rides too) love the magazine and we love Doc. For a celebrity he is so humble (we’ve met him twice and he has answered tech torq questions for me). Heavy Duty is the best bike mag in the business. We fight over who gets to read it first. Like Doc, we love riding in the US. We’ve done over 20,000 miles there two-up on H-D rentals. Hal’s in Milwaukee is the best. We fly into Chicago, short bus it to Milwaukee, then a 3-day ride to Sturgis on I-90 (speed limit 80mph) picking up some US friends on the way. Sturgis Bike Week is unbelievable. We stay in a quiet health retreat in the Black Hills for $60 a day, a fascinating 1 hour ride from Sturgis. RIP the Full Throttle Saloon. I thought it would be a bit decadent but when I walked in you could feel the love! What a tragedy it’s gone. I plan to ride Ultras until I’m 80, then I’ll get myself an XKR Jag.
  • More Indian bikes ‘n’ stuff.
  • I enjoy the reviews of day rides and overnight or two day rides. And reviews of accommodation.
  •  Keep up the great work, HD leaves the rest in its wake...
  • I am a motorcycle lover but have converted to Harleys for the last 20+ years. Luv me turning my own spammers so more hands. The only other mag I buy is Hot Bike from the States – very good for hands on upgrades and keeping up with all the new stuff coming out both bolt on and more techo stuf from motors to suspension. The Yanks are on to it. Anyways, good mag and will continue to purchase. – Mark
  • Most of my bike has been styled on what I have read from heavy duty.
  • Legal issues covered. Custom build ideas. Who does what and recommendations for service, custom work other engineering works.
  •  The state of our roads are great if you live in a city or near a freeway but if you’re not stiff shit. Look at the National Highway in QLD from Gympie up to Cairns – what a JOKE! Any wonder people are getting killed. I’ve got no sense of humour or the politician in me should I say give them another PAY rise poor bastards! Live to Ride Ride to Live.
  • Excellent bike mag, please keep up the quality of the production and content.
  • Great Magazine. (I still have every edition). Keep up the great work.
  • Dealer or shop profiles – more of please.
  • Beautiful magazine Quality publication
  • In trouble because I’m always reading the magazine cover to cover! I always enjoy your magazine. I guess there is always room for improvement but I cant think of any suggestions. As they say if it ain’t broke don’t fix it!
  • Price of mag should be under $10 in line with other Aus mags.
  • Tech and humour interest me, which is why I like the mag. Nothing too serious. I have been riding for 46 years now. I own a Norton in addition to the Duke/Harley, and you probably wouldn’t offend many people with some Pommie Twin content.
  • To many adds , compare magazine to 10 years ago where you could read some interesting things now you have to try and find a page without an ad. Stories like Bankstown bike show have 3 to 4 thumb nail photos each year where you need a magnifying glass to look at photos. Sick of looking at the same shop building a new bike each year there has to be enough bikes in Australia that could make it into your magazine.
  • Every time I ride my H-D I am blown away by my good fortune.
  • I own an imported 2008 FXSTB and its my dream bike and is a heap I would love to do to it and get ideas and inspiration through your mag. Even though in this very tough economic climate the wife mentions many times of selling this bike, I would rather get a second job as a parking inspector than sell it. I know you hear it a million times and will continue too as long as you keep putting the mag out, but keep up the bloody great work as people mark off the days until the next edition hits the streets and your hard work and tireless effort does not go unnoticed. Thanks folks and happy birthday.
  • I went to Sturgis in 2015 flew to Vegas hired a Street Glide from Eagle Rider and rode all the bike roads out to South Dakota with four Aussie mates stayed at Deadwood and had a absolute ball ! Was so impressed with the Street I recently traded my 2009 Nightrain in on a CVO street glide! What a bike!
  • I have been reading Heavy Duty magazine since the beginning, being a subscriber on and off and it’s always been an excellent publication. I like the fact that it has stuck to its original idea of being mostly about the bikes with a bit of lifestyle and features are about the bikes not the model draped all over it – I can read other mags for that. Keep up the good work.
  • I have owned my first Harley since March 2015. Previously I raced motor cross/super cross. Didn’t think that I would enjoy my new Fat Boy as much as I do. Unfortunately I haven’t been able to ride as much as I would like as I had a workplace injury last May (2015) and had my back fused at L5/S1. Just got back to riding again at Christmas time and then in April 2016 re-injured my back at work and had to have another back fusion at L4/L5 in June 2016. Still recovering and can’t wait to ride again. My surgeon reassured me that I’ll be back riding my Harley soon. – Damien.
  • Heavy duty rocks! I have a large collection of motorcycle magazines mostly Australian published and my copy of Tech Tourqe is always my favourite read. Good stuff guys ride on!
  • Insure My Ride Insurance Sucks. HDTV needs to get an evening time slot Saturday morning is for kids not Harley enthusiasts. Push bike riders need to find there own country to ride in. There’s nothing more pleasing to the eye than a woman riding a Harley.
  • Love new features and products. I would love to visit Harley in the States? You could run a comp on that. I would enter 100 times. You could run staff profiles from Heavy Duty and dealership staff. This we can get a feel of the people behind the scene and their interests and hobbies and what they ride (if they ride).
  • More vintage bikes.
  • Would like more issues. I really just enjoy a quiet time with your mag. I went on three of Freck’s tours, and miss not only him, but the tours as well. How about an Aussie trip.7 to 10days around this country – annually. More product tests and prices would also be good how about a series that the average person can do to improve not only performance but bling on their bike, with very little mech skills needed. What about the basics – oil change, clutch adjust, wheel removals (flat tyre), battery change – basic adjustments and general safety checks. Articles about service shops – not dealers only, e. big twin American motorcycles, etc. Articles about riding better on a Harley. There should be more bikes shows in Vic. Just really enjoy my Harleys and your terrific mag! – Mick
  • Great mag keep it up cheers
  • Like riding, dislike surveys. I love to ride. My Harley likes to go for rides too. Life sucks unless I am riding. Send me merchandise to make me happy. Love ya work Heavy Duty!
  • Good mag. Keep it up and listen to Boris.
  • I’m like a kid in a candy shop when my Heavy Duty mag turns up in the mail. Love your work.
  • Would love to feature my bike in either Readers Ride or Mild to Wild :) – 133hp 120tq from 107ci. Keep up the awesome editorial and production of a great mag full of informative and eye candy bike info. Cheers ya all.
  • Some of the custom bikes are totally overboard, the workmanship and ideas are great but generally they are beyond the average persons finances and abilities. I’d like to see a few more practical bikes, ones that can go on the road for more than a week without the owners needing their nail varnish renewing and their bandanna’s ironed. Maybe some more articles on women riders, Ladies Of Hog etc.
  • Great magazine to read when it arrives in the mail.
  • While it’s great see all those custom bikes, most are unridden and totally unregistable. I would enjoy seeing some readers rides.
  • Life’s good. Would be funny to see Brumby fall off a chair and fracture his wrist again but not hurt himself this time! He should join us on the next H-D Sportster Club annual ride again and drag Doc along with him and Viv you would be very welcome to come along also.
  • Do Tech Torq on HDTV going to Sturgis with HD would be great but not everyone can afford to do things like this. Keep things more down to earth for just the average rider. Not everyone can afford a Rushmore & US trip.
  • A bit more on bike rallies would be okay. Winter and summer clothing articles boots jackets gloves etc. Aussie ride routes.
  • Love the comic and joke section! Trouble sourcing the Tech Torq Handbook?
  • I enjoyed your mag, subscribed from about 2002 to 2014. Had bought and read quite a few random issues before that. I worked on Brum’s Dyna when I was working at H/Heaven in Lt Lonsdale St. I’ve followed Doc’s many exploits and always thought he had the dream/cream job. If he is near Werribee at some time, tell him to call in for a cool aid. Good work and good luck to you all.
  •  More top fuel bikes.
  • Love new products that have been researched by Heavy Duty and recommended or good fixes to minor issues to improve the enjoyment of the motorcycle.
  • Love the magazine. Has a great mix of articles / info
  • It’s a good mag, well done.
  • Just bought a new Prostreet Breakout after seeing it reviewed in heavy duty. Ridden a standard Breakout and they have nothing on the Prostreet – it shits all over them. Love the thing – awesome machine! I bought my first Harley in 1985 and this one is number 9. Would not buy any other brand of motorcycle.
  • Love your magazine. Would like to read more about performance parts and performance in general. Not so much on slow old hog riders.
  •  Love the magazine and can’t wait for each new issue to arrive in the mail. The old issues are taken to the workshop for my mechanics to review at “Smoko”.
  • Love the mag and the fact that you print in Australia. I’ve been in print media my whole life up until the past 5 years and still involved in graphic design. Keep jobs in Australia. Good on you!
  • I’m not a huge fan of the Chopper scene. I do love Bobbers and the old school bikes. Great mag however I do buy other mags as I love all motorbikes not just Harleys – except scooters, they suck. They have to keep their legs together to stop sand on their vagina? Thanks for a great read. One of the best quality motorcycle mags out there. – Cheers Flickdog
  • More articles of bike modifications and customisation and less extreme custom built show bikes. Reviews of new accessories etc and local rides and bike friendly venues.
  • Short time alive. Long time dead.
  • Enjoy the electronic version of the mag. Take them with me on my iPad. Access them anywhere anytime.
  • Keep up the good work. Love getting your mag!
  • Heavy Duty mag is by far the best mag that I ever laid my eyes on. It has great features, Tech Torq and it’s nice to see what others are doing to their bikes. I had the pleasure of meeting Doc but never responded to my email but that’s okay. Keep up the great job of keeping us Harley heads interested in your mag.
  • HD is the only mag I get now, always look forward to a new issue. Keep up the good work.
  •  My motorcycle is many things, means of daily transport, means of escape, means of socialising with other like mined blokes. I try to do as much as possible myself in terms of maintenance but have to take the bike to a shop occasionally when it all gets too much or I stuff things up, have learnt many lessons the hard way.
  • Stay away from the trashy girl pics like some other magazines.
  • Readers own travel stories, readers own custom experience not a professional custom build. Waste of time the posters, save some money and put a section in about great roads, rides. Generally your magazine is the best on the market, the only other magazine I read is Hot Bike from the states which has great custom bikes with average content. Keep up the good work
  • I am female and have my own motorcycle training and assessing business here in Yeppoon. I don’t think of it as work, it is an honour to talk to like minded people and to check out their bikes, stories and experiences. We have met so many terrific people. You are lucky to be doing what you do. I would love to test ride new bikes and write a review. I just love bikes.
  • Would love to see more pretty girls on bikes!
  • I’ve had three Harley-Davidson motorcycles. 2008 Ultra Limited. 2010 Fatboy. I’ve recently traded in the Ultra and the Fatboy and have just recently purchased a 2016 Street Glide Special.
  • Maybe organise a ride in Australia, like you do for the States, there is a lot of great rides here and you already have the customer base.
  • Would like to see a occasional Jessie James guest article. Although HOG is your bread and butter some of us long time riders are not into the whole HOG thing. Always up for as many vintage articles as can be put to print. Been riding since I was 10 on the farm and 59 now. Love Heavy Duty and although a few comments above, it’s good just the way it is also.
  • Love to see more how to features for those that like to work on our bikes not because dealers charge a lot but for the basics I believe most riders love to work on their own bikes I think it great to have a good overview of your bike.
  • Would like more issues with more Tech torque and readers custom bikes featured. I spent $45,000 on changes too my 2014 FXSB.
  • It’s a great magazine. On a winner here.
  • Nothing more to add, the mag has great content, keep it rolling.
  • Love the mag but it would be nice to see what other countries, besides the US, are doing with Harley, Victory and Indian models. Not just in the custom scene but in the dealership builds to suit local tastes. More Boris!
  • Would like to see story and pics of the person who wins the MD Raffle bike etc.
  • You def need to get to the Republic of Texas (rot) bike rally in Austin it is insane like Woodstock with bikes. I reckon you should take me next year with ya all and I’ll be the guide haha!
  • More new Harley give-aways. Keep up the good work!
  • Just a great magazine! Very tasteful and always can’t wait until the next issue.
  • Keep the political rants out of the magazine. Especially any crap about Qld. Qld laws do not stop people from riding and getting together. Pushing that agenda is a waste of space. I am a police officer, reader of your magazine, and been riding Harleys for over 30yrs. Comments that are baseless about Qld do nobody any good. I am not interested in custom bikes that are not used as everyday rides or that are show pieces only. I think the idea of Heavy Duty should be that of a rider’s magazine. Love the magazine, just not the occasional political rant or the wild customs that clearly don’t see the open roads.
  • Sorry Guys, I don’t like the Indian and Victory articles let’s keep it H-D. When you’re paying for a magazine I would prefer not to waste half of it on a brand I’m not interested in. Start another magazine for the other brands.
  • This magazine is the best mag for bike riders, not just Harley riders. All the colours are cool and I look forward to getting the next issue and read about cool bikes!
  • I love Heavy Duty magazine – sort of a classy version of Live to Ride (you know what I mean). Cool posters, cool bike reviews. Perhaps a metric bike every now and then? I ride a 2015 Hyosung ST7 with some minor customisations – handmade tank pad, ISO style grips, after market mirrors, Turnas Exhausts from Motorcycle Exhaust Professionals. It would be cool to see similar bikes that have been customised like other Harleys. I plan on getting a Harley once I have my full license (and the funds). It would be cool if NZ readers were eligible for prizes, like the 883 give-away.
  • 12 copies a year
  • Maybe less girls. They be either building bikes or riding.
  • More about the Harley brand only. I understand that you need to promote the other motorcycles through commitments to them, but I purchase the HD mag for the Harley brand only. The other magazines on the market never have and never will provide the level of useful info as your HD mag does. Please keep it to the Harleys that we all love and adore. Nothing will ever compare to the original. No matter what the knockers wannabes say. Long live the Milwaukee legend.
  • Best Harley mag out and hope to be the lucky winner of the Sportster subscriber competition.
  • I like stories about fixing things that the factory didn’t get right how the problem can be fix . Readers tips.
  • I currently ride every day to work on my 883 custom Sportster. I hope to ride on road trips in the future on a Heritage with my wife. I go riding with 3 other Harley riders at least once a month. I love old Harleys a lot.
  • When I bought my first Harley this year I started to read HD. It’s the best mag of it kind. I was lucky enough to win a trip to Daytona bike week with H-D and met Viv and Neale – great couple made the trip even more enjoyable you were so helpful and it made the magazine more interesting. Will you be going to Wollongong in October if you are I hope to catch up. Taken care.
  • Boris is out of step with most motorcyclists. He gives us all a bad image. Interesting that he used to write in AMCN but they don’t include him now.
  • Mild to Wild section should feature older bikes. Big majority H-D riders now seem to bolt on the same type of after market ex-systems, air cleaners etc. Not much individuality out there. I can’t understand why so many riders have had a dozen or so H-Ds and they’re still in there 20s, early 30s. I’ll be glad when the ‘bagger’ fad is over.
  • More features about the local custom bike builders themselves. You do a great job about the bikes they build but not too much on the builders themselves.
  • G’day Brum, completed your survey, all the best mate. Reaper MD.
  • Love the mag always have done, only dislike is the showing of Outlaw Motor Cycle Clubs in it. I am a 74 yr old bought my bike new in 1995 Harley-Davidson FLHR have totally modified it. It has been in your mag on two occasions. I won a set of tyres some years ago in the “Ridden not Hidden” section, I have just re-bored it and put new rings and oversized pistons in it, having just notched up 250,000kms on original motor, gearbox bottom motor still original. Oil changed every 4000kms only used Harley oil and filters. Ridden all around Australia always got us home. Keep up the good work.
  • Would like to see more issues – maybe every 4-6 weeks or 2 or 3 special issues per year. – Shan
  • Give Boris more reviews on bikes and gear – love his work. Do some more on dealerships and their rides, lots of other bike shops out there. Do some more competitions to win stuff especially for us poor folk, and give Doc a pay rise,
  • You’re all doing a great job!
  • I have nothing but praise for you all at Heavy Duty who put an outstanding read together for us owners/riders. The mag is streets ahead of any other rival and given all the magazines now being printed overseas Heavy Duty still remains in Australia. Well done, keep up the great work.
  • I have Brittle Bones (over 200 broken legs in my life) and just love motorcycles, Harleys especially. If I was to ever own a motorcycle it would have to be a Harley Trike, something I design myself with a bit of collaboration from likes of Westside Customs or the MacCulkin Brothers (not sure if that name is right ) you will know who I mean . I’m sure this day will come one day.
  • Great mag, but I’d like to see monthly issues. My ride 2013 street glide.
  •  Less fat tyred monsters and big wheel baggers. More Japanese, US and Australian small custom builders. More Triumphs and Victories.
  • Look forward to getting your mag. Great magazine keep up the good work.
  • Overall a fairly tidy mag. Sick of fools writing in to ask “What should I buy”? - Simple - go out and ride everything you can, make up your own mind!
  • Hi, I have been playing with modifying bikes for years and love reading about other builders and how they do it especially how they do small mods to parts to use them where they weren’t designed to go but work and look good.
  • Like the mag. It has great info for riders without much mechanical know how on ways to improve their bikes.
  • Excellent magazine. Love the articles especially Tech Talk. Would like more content on product reviews and some more articles on New Zealand, only because I’m a kiwi.
  • Love the mag. Always champing at the bit to get the next edition. It would be great to get special editions as well eg Doc’s Tech Torque editions.
  • I am a biased h-d man. Not interested in Victory, Indian, BMW or anything else really. Any articles not h-d related I don’t read. I tried once or twice but lost interest quickly. Please don’t water down a great mag with other brands.
  •  I’m a loner when I go riding now was a member of Ulysses Club and Harley Owners Group back in the 90s to 2000 like making my own choice. I love my 2002 flht Harley. I would like to upgrade and make some changes to this bike you and the magazine are showing me the way when I can save up for part changes which is not easy by the way. There are more riders like me out there. I come across them all a time. I self live to ride and ride to live .
  • I enjoy Heavy Duty Mag and look forward to its arrival. It’s a great read. I was a subscriber for a few years and should really do it again. I agree with Boris on that we as riders need to take responsibility for our own safety, but maybe an article or two on some rider tips. We all get old and forgetful, so a gentle reminder might be helpful to some. Just watched the news footage on a car collecting two motorcyclist. I would not have been riding where they were. Talk about putting yourself in danger. I have been riding motorcycle for 48 years and licenced for 42 and I hope I have many more years left to enjoy this activity. Would love to ride around our great country one day. Been thinking of it for about 40 years, but I don’t want to rush into it. Weapon of choice for the last 3 years is a 2013 Street Bob. It has the usual mods, 2:1 pipe, Stage 1 air cleaner, race tuner, 204 cams, Progressive suspension on the front and Ikons on the rear, fork brace, forward controls and a bit of bling. Love the solitude and feeling of isolation I get on the bike. Single seat so no passengers. Must be getting a bit anti-social in my old age. I enjoy riding by myself or with my son. Little buggar is to quick for me, but is good fun trying.
  • Until we catch up again can’t think of anything at the moment see you guys at the GP Speedway Etihad? Oh yes one thing you want to make new friends especially ones for life go on a HD Tour with Gay & Paul awesome people in fact you all are Viv, Brum & Doc
  • Over the last 4 years or so your mag was critical in my research across the cruiser range and especially Harley-Davidson. Without a doubt the information I gleaned from your mag helped me no end in my research and finally deciding on a H-D Road Glide Special 2016 model which I purchased in December 2015. Have now done 8000km on it and a member of Canberra HOG. Absolutely love the bike after being away from riding for about 24 years. A big wrap to Canberra Harley and the team as I worked through bikes etc to the purchase and the service and support since has been great. Also really enjoying the CHOG team, rides and general friendship that has come from owning and riding a Harley. Cheers and keep up the great quality with the mag. – John
  • Could have had my bike featured as a poster in the Sportster issue earlier this year. Hahaha
  • Can finish the mag in one day. It’s not big enough.
  • Great mag with fabulous perforated/removable posters.
  • Would like to see more on trikes either factory or custom – it’s what we are wanting to add to the garage. Cheers for a great mag
  • All I would like to say is keep the Heavy Duty book coming, both myself and son subscribe to your magazine, plus I told my son about HDTV Show, which we enjoyed seeing you (Viv) on, can now put a face to a name, but don’t seem to get it on tv anymore. :-( Is that because of another series being filmed? I hope so, we all enjoy watching the show. Keep up the good work.
  • All good, most enjoyable read over the last 25 years. Looking forward to the next issue.
  • I especially like Tech Torq. I was pleased with Doc’s quick response to my enquiry and his superior knowledge and his network of advisors on tech enquiries. I’m Vice President of the Veterans Motorcycle Club South Coast Chapter NSW. I am retired and raising grandchildren, so all I can afford is my 1996 FXD Dyna Superglide which is done up mechanically perfect for all the riding I have done over the last 11 years. Of course I don’t get to ride enough. I have subscribed to HEAVY DUTY a number of times. Some of the other Chopper magazines are too subject repetitive. I don’t like articles or TV shows about bikes that are not genuinely ridable. I also like to know why they and what they are equipping a bike with. Thank you for having the survey. Best of luck to you. Ring me if you want to.
  • I look forward to the magazine each month. Love it.
  • How about more comparisons/reviews on after market parts and accessories V OEM’s. More tyre reviews, helmet reviews, technology reviews such as blue tooth comms. More updates on crap laws affecting bikers.
  • I still remember the Margaret River National Rally. I regret two things about the ride across: 1. Not waiting for Doc and Jane when they hit a bird at the start of a day’s ride. I waited for ages but assumed they had taken a different route to get some photos. I will never forgive myself! 2. Not having my wife on the trip as I know she would have got on like a house on fire with Jane. Love your riding Jane. Well, you did ask! XX
  • I stopped subscribing to HD because the mag was starting to look the same every issue. I particularly dislike custom bikes that cannot be registered or are completely useless to ride. (Only my opinion, I know others do like them.) I do like the new products that are tested, the thermostatic twin fan for Harleys, or the top triple clamp and great products like that.
  • I enjoy reading in particular the older style renovations and modifications, also the where they get their ideas and products or how the manufacture them. I am fond of the ‘Bobber’ style motorcycles. Also potentially new products that appear on the market and reviews of them. It would be interesting to see some written stories of those persons who do the Sturgis and Route 66 trips, just a different angle on how and what they did.
  • It would be good to see stories about ordinary people who ride their bikes a lot and/or use them for long trips.
  •  Keep up the good work - look forward to the mag. Read it quickly then pick out the parts I want to read , then start at the back and move forward to include all articles. Some times it may take me weeks to complete all the articles.
  • Have read HD over the last 20 years and to me there is no bias, everything is treated fairly. Good work for 25 years. Well done.
  • Enjoy the articles guys. You’re doing a bang up job. Like the customised bikes but could do with a few more ladies in the photo shoots. Would like to see some figures on the “cost of owning” a bike as part of its overall review. Things like servicing costs, various parts that are commonly replaced over a 5 year period like tyres etc, or maybe some repair costs for a tank or fender etc. Maybe a “club guide” with the contact numbers of various HOG clubs or other riding groups. Could include various places that provide rental H-Ds etc. Wouldn’t mind seeing some tyre comparison articles/reviews as these tend to be a fairly expensive item that riders don’t generally have a lot of “hard data” about how they perform. Just a couple of ideas for you.
  • Top magazine. Great read. Only problem I have is I wish it came out monthly. Too long between reads. Keep up the good work guys and gals.
  • Each magazine focus on a particular Harley model. What accessories are available and what riders have done to their bikes, how to upgrade, wider wheel, CVO’s, suspension, forks etc
  • I’m 54, I have a 2008 Fat Boy my wife and I and 4 mates did Strugis in 2015.
  • Great publication. Always look forward to it coming in the mail. I used to buy most magazines that had cruisers in them but now only subscribe to this and 1 other Australian publication because they are the best.
  • I would like to see past issues digitised and made available to purchase. I had the misfortune of wanting an old Tech torque issue and was unable to purchase it because it was sold out. This would give you more sales and increased revenue. If paper version is not available I will happily buy a digital copy.
  • This mag is hard to better.
  • I would like to see American DOT approved helmets and safety gear legal in Australia. There is some good gear in America that can’t be purchased in Australia.
  • I’d like to see the costs (or at least the total, even an estimate) associated with the build of custom bikes, and also those for project bikes. You list the ‘Guts & Bolts’ but never the costs.
  • Great read. I look forward to the mag each issue. Maybe do a spread on Harley trikes to see what we are missing out on in OZ.
  • Reading experiences from other riders and their travels in Australia. Like to read about new products, genuine, custom and non-genuine. Perhaps have some readers provide feed back on products such as polish, gadgets, luggage, wet weather gear. What are some of the best rides the readers have taken with the their mates? I have been riding for over 47 years and been on a Harley of different models for the past 30 years. Seen some amazing places and rode with same mates for over 25 years. A feature on accommodation which is biker friendly and what’s on in the town which might interest rides. Links to great fun Youtube bike videos would be a blast. Many products which come onto the market are garbage but every now and again something is very good, so features on products released to the market in the past 12 months would be great. Good luck, and great read.
  • I love this magazine the way it is. While other motorcycle magazines become thinner and have less content, Heavy Duty are consistently great!
  • Pity Paul Gallen retired – NSW most losing Origin Captain - Queensland will miss him. He is an ill-mannered grub, and probably rides a Yamaha Star 650 with the plate “KNOB-1”.
  • Please include more tech toque articles, best oils for bike and best place to buy spare parts. Reviews on air shocks, reviews on best dyno operators in each state, tyre reviews, brakes reviews, riding tips clothes reviews, more about service intervals etc.
  • Magazine is fine the way it is. More of Boris, Doc and Brum would be good. I remember Doc stating in an article when judging a contest at Pedro’s Rocky dealership what he looks for, like a certain theme or if parts suit the entire bike. Maybe a column with advice for those of us trying to change our bikes – l know this could be a daunting task given the numbers of suppliers out there but I often see a bike where I think some of the bits don’t gel but hey they like it so why should I care. It would be an increase in workloads and costs but monthly issues would be good, maybe a one off mag with the best bikes of Heavy Duty? Similar to Tech Torque?
  • Love you mag, only wish I could see it weekly.
  • I feel that every story you do on a product that has a paid advertisement gets a great review, can’t always be the case ? Boris writing can be good when he’s not rambling on too much. Over does it a bit sorry.
  • Maybe a column on touring essentials and roadside fix ups. Eg. proper method to fix a tyre, roadside trouble shooting. Maybe update Docs Hawaiian shirt collection ... Lots of newbies to the Harley fold so maybe show them what they can do with their bikes. Camping etc. and run through equipment for it.
  • No all good at the minute. Just need some more dry weather!
  • I would like to see more info on up coming bike shows local shows and smaller shows.
  • As I ride everyday in ALL weather and traffic, would love long term tests on wet weather gear, tyres lighting, etc. Real world tests, cause I’ve spent a small fortune on so called “waterproof” gear and it ain’t! As more riders are joining the ranks you may want to aim at the guys who don’t know a ring spanner from a hammer and provide basic servicing tips and hints. Realise this is fraught with litigation dangers but maybe something. Also when doing product reviews can you write in whether or not the product are Australian compliant? Specifically lighting (e mark etc), braided lines and the like. Not that my Fat Boy is exactly compliant but at least I know. Some new riders don’t and it is quite a rude shock when Constable Dribble defects your bike. Love the mag! Hope you have a long publication life.
  • I would like to see an upcoming ride/event list, as I normally find out about rides/events after they are over. I recently replaced my tyres and as I don’t do huge kms. I was after a tyre with better grip. Decided I like the sound of the Michelin Pilot road 4s (I have a 17in rear 19in front wheel) and with no ABS and as I’m not the best rider in the world I wanted more grip. Even Michelin would not confirm the tyres would be suitable for a Harley – the main issue I had was the need to fit a front tube in a tubeless tyre. Apparently some tube tyres do not work well with tubes due to being to rough inside lots of internet stuff on being okay but reducing max speed rating. I decided f#@kit I want those tyres and had a set fitted to the wheels (speed rating reduction would not have been a huge issue). Turns out front tyre is marked with fit a tube if needed. My bike is a modified 99 Twin cam FXDWG, 95 ci kit 93hp 104Nm, suspension upgrades, twin disc HHI callipers up front, true track mounts, etc passing Jap bikes through Sydney National Park is fun. 19in apes don’t seem to hurt the handling. Why is there a height restriction on bars? The old rule of thumb of not above shoulder height seems to work well. Love the tyres heaps of grip and look like they will wear okay, about 600kms on them with no sign of wear still have most the little spike things).
  • The tech sections are informative and what Doc tends to present is helpful, albeit normally specific. Perhaps some “general” everyday maintenance topics would be advantageous from time to time. These appear in the Tech Torq section as queries are raised, but they have to be extracted from the dialogue. A lot of damage and a lot of danger results from poor everyday maintenance. Some rider training/tips perhaps. How many H-D riders are re-entering the riding scene and have not ridden for +20 years? A lot. Motorcycle deaths being an overstated percentage in the 40-plus age bracket. There are a lot of riders that could do with a few tips and even a few courses on how to pull up +500kg of bike and riders in the wet. Even the technique on how to lift a dropped bike would help. Simple stuff is of use to almost everyone. I really look forward to the Boris input. He must be an interesting dude to sit and chat with. I think his input to the magazine has been a great addition. Last, I want to congratulate Doc for his very personal depression awareness work as well as HD magazine for the forum. The black dog is unfortunately alive and well in our society and awareness is something that needs to evolve. Ignorance of the depression issue is commonplace, with the general public not having any real appreciation of how many people are impacted, both those suffering and those living with the influences. Obviously at times tragic influences. The last magazine included some basic but very clear advice on how to observe and perhaps detect depression with the series of logos presented. This sort of thing I believe makes a real difference – and it is admirable that a magazine such as HD “sneaks up on us” and adds social value whilst presenting the fun topics we buy the magazine for!
  • I hate work I just want to go riding!
  • The crap the QLDs cops are doing trying to put all bike rides into one baskets.
  • Boris is a great addition to the mag reminding me of past days ’n laugh to the shit we got away with ’n still do today. Everyone is doin’ a great job.
  • I always look forward to receiving my copy of HEAVY DUTY in the mail, but two months just seems too long to wait between editions. I know there’s plenty of available content out there and I’d gladly pay double the subscription price or more to receive the mag every month.
  • Even though I won my bike, I am enjoying copying all the ‘hard core biker’ trends, to the annoyance of my wife.
  • I reckon HD magazine is perfect the way that it is now, a good mix of everything to do with Harley and American made motorcycles and a good mix of everything to do with serious and old school style biking and riding. Please don’t change a thing. If it ain’t broke don’t fix it! If it works, don’t change it! I have Harleys in Australia and in the Philippines, I split my free time between the two countries and love riding in both countries, completely different riding skills required for each country and different style of bikes required for each country. I am living the dream :-)
  • Keep up the great magazine content. Overall it’s improved year after year since I first started to read HEAVY DUTY. It’s also what I would rate as a “biker-family friendly” magazine. As a lady I can appreciate the fellas need to see boobs and bums occasionally, but I like the fact that this is kinda kept to a minimum in HD. There’s other mags the fellas can read if they want a whole load more of that.
  • Special HEAVY DUTY folders to store my extensive collection of HEAVY DUTY mags. It’s just a GREAT MAG! Even my Grandson loves to go through it when it arrives. He is only 4.
  • HEAVY DUTY mag rulez!
  • Look forward to each edition. I am a good friend of Jock Main, he tells me stories of when HD first started, with Chris Beattie (I think that’s his name) on the lounge room floor, sorting all the information ready for publishing. Also I am a Road Captain for Central Coast HOGS. Ride most weekends with the HOGS or Central Coast Classic Motorcycle Club.
  • Sweet as.
  • Anything that encourages people to ride, more women to ride and a sense of bike community. Road trips and camping columns would be good! Hint and tips for bike camping and destinations etc
  • Would like to see another tech torque edition.
  • Custom cycle builds.
  • Hahaha I lost my job. I could use a gift or two. Cheers Wayne.
  • The only dislike I have had is when my bike won the Mild to Wild comp and I didn’t receive my shirt, sent an email and got no reply.
  • I am on the shorter side and even though I ride a Sportster 883L I would like to see more articles/bikes regards lowering the seat height of bikes in the H-D range. Also, after market accessories for Sportster 883L and the H-D range. It would be good to know what rider courses are available for H-D cruisers
  • It’s great to see Neale and Viv put out a great magazine in such a tough marketplace. Your support for the local industry and motorcycle scene is second to none.
  • Had a great time in 2012 on the Sturgis ride!
  • Life’s good. Your mag is a great read. A number of the bikes featured has inspired some of the customisation on my bike. I own a 2008 Rocker C, bought privately in 2009 with only 400ks on it. Harleys are great for making them your own. Keep up the great work HEAVY DUTY.
  • On the address label “how many issues left” on subscription. If I give my cc details it could be on going. – Cowboy, Canberra
  • Like to be able to get a subscription discount here in NZ.
  • Would like more on touring in any country more about the pit falls and how to make a tour a better tour – like what riding gear could be used in cold or hot climates, what people learnt about the ride, maybe even suggestions on road rules and what to watch for
  • Always ride the USA for 6 weeks every year including Sturgis – I have a ball great riding.
  • It’s a great mag as it is. Just keep doing what you have always done.
  • More promotion of local events (bike shows, rides, motorsports such as drag racing that involve H-Ds etc), more support of local events (perhaps a Heavy Duty stand at bike shows such as Bikes on the Hill that Brumby attended last year – yet to be featured in Heavy Duty mag mind you!).
  • I own an ’04 Night Train, I would really like to see more write ups regarding this great model.
  • The pro criminal bikie column by Boris. Why would anyone support alleged drug dealing thugs. The reason I stopped being a subscriber.
  • I need a bike, but carer duties are first.
  • Such a great mag, great reading!
